Susan Lin White

Susan Lin White passed suddenly and gained her angel wings at 4:09AM on August 6, 2020.

Susan was a Midland Lee High School grad and TCU alum.  She was born in Midland, TX and lived most of her adult life at Lake Whitney.  She excelled in the motor home business and she was a top nation-wide salesperson.  She also taught Napoleon Hills “Think & Grow Rich” as she captured Universal Principles & Laws of the Universe.

Susan loved Lake Whitney and the Chapel of Light which her mother and father built in the 70s.  She was a friend and counselor to everyone.  She was always a pathfinder so that people who stopped by the Chapel of Light could see their way more clearly.

Proceeding her in death are her parents Bob & Marce White of Lake Whitney and her older sister Sandie White.

Susan is survived by her twin sister Ashtara Sasha White who resides in Austin TX and Lake Whitney.  She is also survived by her niece Marcie Howell and nephew Marc Howell and his wife Wendy and 2 grown children Sean and Lauren Howell all in Austin, as well as, her 3 cousins Phyllis & Don Hennessee in Driftwood TX, Karen “DeDa” Lehman in Meridian TX and Cindy White Hughes in Waco TX, as well as, her late cousin Jimmy White’s wife also named Susan White in California and quite a few extended family, children and grandchildren. Susan is also survived by her loving boyfriend, Wendell Atkins, and her right hand and treasure, Audrey Brown.

The twins’ mother, Marce White, built the Chapel of Light on Lake Whitney in 1976.  Hundreds of people donated to make her vision a reality.  They came from far and wide where they would have a beautiful chapel that they could enjoy for years to come.

And their dad, Bob White, was in the oil and gas business in Midland and they moved to Lake Whitney when Susan and Sasha went to college.  Their dad, Bob White, then went into real estate and started developing on Lake Whitney.  He developed Bonanza Shopping Center, Chaparral Canyon, Bonanza Estates, Quail Lake subdivision, Lake Whitney Country Club, Oak Springs development, instrumental in White Bluff Ranch and others.

Bob and Marce started AA & Alanon at Lake Whitney and many people moved to the lake because of them.  They were conference circuit speakers and Bob was known as “The Great White Father”.

A Celebration Service for Susan’s Life will be held at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Home Sept. 3, 2020 at 2PM, 201 N. Bosque, Whitney, TX.  And, speaking of “BOSQUE”, Susan and Sasha’s paternal grandparents (Bob White’s parents) had a beautiful ranch 3 miles out of Meridian, TX called Friendly Oaks on the Bosque River.  The twins spent most summers there and every Christmas.  There were cattle, horses, stables, a park with all the amenities but the Bosque River was everyone’s favorite.  Their grandad was also one heck of a guy and one of the oil pioneers in West Texas.

We invite you to join us at Susan’s Celebration of Life Memorial Service.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the funeral home is accepting 50+ people with social distancing.  Face masks and sanitizers will be provided at the front door.

If you are planning on attending in person, please send an e-mail reply back to Ashtara@SusanWhite.com letting us know so we will have a count.

We will also be live-streaming the memorial service on Ashtara Sasha White’s Facebook page.  To join the live-steam, go online to:  www.facebook.com/SashaLWhite and “friend” Ashtara to be able to see the live-steam at the date & time of the memorial service.

The family is grateful for all of the condolences, well wishes and tributes to Susan.  We are saddened we cannot celebrate her life together in a normal fashion and we hope the livestreamed services will be of benefit to each of you who can’t make the service.
