Susan Kepple Worley

Susan Kepple Worley, age 76, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020, in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2020, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Rev. Jay Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Whitney Memorial Park. A visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2020, at Marshall and Marshall funeral home.

Susan Kepple Worley packed a lot of life into her 76 years. She was born to Charles and Reta Kepple on May 20, 1943, in Arizona, and early in her life became an avid traveler as she explored the world first with her father, an army man, then later with her first husband, as an army officer’s wife. She lived in Turkey and Greece in her early years before settling back into the U.S., first in Dunkirk, New York, where she was cheerleader for the nearby all-boys school, and then in Springfield, Virginia, where she graduated from Lee High School in 1961. She was an athletic woman who loved to dance and play sports, activities that kept her busy throughout her whole life. She studied physical education at Radford University until she married her childhood sweetheart, Richard Scott. She continued her athletic interests during her marriage and shared her love of physical education as a swimming instructor for the children at several of the army bases where they lived. She valued this work greatly and always maintained her Red Cross lifesaving and swimming certification. Balancing her work life and her enduring love of athleticism, she played and coached soccer and even took Judo lessons at one point.

Near the end of her first marriage, she started a career in banking and then later, after finishing her education, started a career as a travel agent where she worked and found fulfillment for more than 15 years.

Susan had a passion for dancing that stayed with her all her life. It was in this passion for dancing, in fact, that Susan met her second husband and the love of her life, Jim Worley. Their passion was born on the dance floor, and their bond endured throughout the rest of their lives. She left her career as a travel agent to join Jim in the family surveying business. Susan surrounded herself with friends and family, whether she was volunteering for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, playing on the soccer field, country dancing, or spending time with her loved ones. Susan was a good friend and a loving parent, and she and will be well remembered in our hearts forever.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Reta Little; her brother, Charles David Kepple Jr.; her father, Charles David Kepple; her first husband Richard P Scott; her second husband, Jim (Jimmy) Kyle Worley; her father-in-law, James Worley.

She is survived by her brother, John Nicholas Kepple, III, and wife Jackie of Virgina; her mother-in-law, Willie Worley of Whitney; her son, David Price Scott and wife Eryn of Colorado; her daughter, Sondra Lea Scott and companion Kevin Abblett of Arizona; her daughter, Angela Morris and husband Calvin of Aubrey; her daughter, Kristi Foley and companion Brad Davis of Lewisville; and her daughter, Natalie Johnson of Irving. She has 8 grandchildren, Dylan Ortega and husband Adan, Cory Morris and companion Amber Mack, Nicolette Scott and companion Alex Turner, Katilyn Morris, Hannah Underwood-Scott McKailyn, Loki Foley and Keifer Scott. And finally she had 6 great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Luna and Kayce Ortega, Christian and Keegan Turner, and Gunner Blackburn.  She is also loved by several nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and friends of her children that consider her a “second mom.”
