Susie Emma (Sheffield) Baker, 83 of Stephenville and formerly of Whitney went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 3, 2012. A celebration of her life will be held 1:00 PM, February 6, 2012 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Rev. Eddie Booth officiating. Interment will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM, Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Marshall and Marshall in Whitney.

Susie was born April 13, 1928 in Bono, Johnson County, Texas to the late Mose and Maudie Mae Sheffield. On January 8, 1947 she married Clarence Milton Baker in Hillsboro. They were married 39 ½ years and they had 8 children.

Susie was a homemaker and lived most of her life in the Hill County area. She loved to sing and enjoyed collecting and watching her movies and taking care of her roses. She also enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, fishing, camping at the area lakes and just being outdoors. She enjoyed traveling, painting pictures, crocheting and making crafts. She was very talented and there wasn’t much she couldn’t do when she set her mind to it.

Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Milton Baker; three daughters, Rev. Catherine Wakefield, Brenda Gayle Bugg and Patsy Sue Hoff; one son, Glenn Edward Baker; 7 brothers, Roy, Mose Lee, Jim, Luther, Raymond, J. T. and Frank Sheffield; 4 sisters, Bessie Thomas, Vida Pearl Thompson, Lula Willett and Pearl Monroe; 2 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She is survived by 4 daughters, Barbara Green and husband, Darrell of Wichita, Kansas, Mary Burrow and husband, Bobby of Whitney, Susie Matherly and fianceé, Johnny Pricer of Whitney and Tammy McCartney and husband, Joe of Stephenville; one son, Milton Baker of Whitney; her son-in-law, Kenneth Bugg of Whitney; one sister (who is her only surviving sibling of 13 children), Mozelle Votaw of Hillsboro; 17 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
