Suzanne (Albright) Barton

Jimmie Suzanne Barton, lovingly known as Suzanne, Suz or Granny, passed away on June 7, 2024, at the age of 81.  Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June, 22, 2024, at Abbott Baptist Church in Abbott with Pastor Levin Ainsworth officiating.

She was born on March 29, 1943, in Abilene, Texas and had most recently resided in Abbott, Texas.

Suzanne was a woman full of life and had a zest for various hobbies. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, softball, and square dancing. Her love for Chinese cuisine was well known among her family and friends.

Suzanne, above all, cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Spending time with them brought her immense joy and fulfillment. Her favorite place in the world was either on the lake casting her rod and reel, setting trot lines, or in her beautiful garden. She was always picking black eyed peas, green beans, squash or cantaloupe and always enjoyed insisting the nephews and nieces get in on the action. She also loved taking care of her flowers.

Suzanne was happily married to her beloved sweetheart Charles Lee Trice, they had 3 children Randy, Melinda and Craig, until his early death. Later she married Harold Don Barton of Divide, Texas and they were happily married for 47 years.

She adored her grandchildren, Zachary Hill, Shaun Hill, Kolton Trice, Kobe Trice, and great-grandchildren Jason Hill and step great-granddaughter Janessa Gallegos.

Suzanne is preceded in death by husband Don, her son Randy, mother Dorothy McDaniels and father Andrew Albright, brother Andrew Albright Jr., sister Sandra Lookingbill and her husband Fred.

Suzanne is survived by her daughter Melinda Hill and husband Kenneth, son Craig Trice, sister Sharon Burns and husband Jerry, grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews.

In addition to her dedication to her family, Suzanne was actively involved in the Abbott Baptist Church. Her contributions to the Church and her commitment to her faith will always be remembered.

Suzanne worked for Beneficial Finance Company, and for many years with Contel Telephone Company in Baird, Texas which later transferred the company to Andrews, Texas. She moved to Abbott, Texas and became employed with Plantation Food and later with Brazos Higher Education in Waco, Texas for a number of very happy years until she retired.

Suzanne will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering love will forever remain in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Abbott Baptist Church or Marshall and Marshall Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Texas.
