Sylvia Jennings

Sylvia Jennings, 69, of Hillsboro passed away Friday night, December 22, 2017, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Hillcrest in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday December 29, 2017, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Amy Anderson officiating. She will be laid to rest at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas.

Born June 6, 1948 in Concord, NC to Robert Lee and Mary Frances (Verble) Petrea. Sylvia met her husband, Don Jennings, at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, NC while he was serving in the United States Marine Corp. The couple was united in marriage on December 19, 1969 and moved to Dallas not long after. In 1980, their family moved to Hillsboro. A full-time mom, Sylvia was devoted to caring for her kids and grandkids. She would do anything for them. She was a member of the Hillsboro Country Club, where she enjoyed golfing and socializing with her friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband, Don Jennings on January 4, 2015.

Survivors include her two sons, Donny Jennings and wife, Julie, of Bartlesville, OK and Doug Jennings of Hillsboro; two brothers, Mike Petrea and Bobby Petrea, both of Emerald Isle, NC; sister, Prunie Robinson of Emerald Isle, NC; four grandsons, Trey, Ethan, Cameron, and Carson Jennings; many nieces and nephews; and other extended family members.
