Biography

Talmadge E. Gregory, 76, of Hillsboro passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011, at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 27, 2011, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro with Rev. Diane Barnes of First Presbyterian Church of Itasca officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday, October 26, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Talmadge was born November 25, 1934 in Itasca the son of Starks and Fannie (Walker)Gregory. He graduated from Itasca High School in 1954, lettering in football from his freshman year through his senior year, serving as team captain his senior year. For seven years he worked for Convair in Fort Worth as a tool and dye maker, then he worked for Vander-Voorts Milk Company for six years, before being transfered to Arizona to open up a milk company. In 1977 he began work as an owner/operator for North American Van Lines and continued doing this for twenty-nine years retiring in 2006.

He married Billie James on August 27, 1954 in Itasca and she preceded him in death on October 31, 1994. He later married Joann Doiron on June 11, 2010 in Itasca. Talmadge was also a pilot, who enjoyed flying single engine planes and was an avid gun collector. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and best friend to everyone. Also preceding him in death were his parents. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Itasca.

Survivors include his wife, Joann Gregory of Hillsboro; sons, Terry E. Gregory and wife, Debbie, of Hillsboro and Rickey R. Gregory and wife, Belinda, of Whitney; sister, Dessie Mae Cummings of Houston; aunt, Erma Lambert of Itasca; eight grandchildren, Billy Gregory of Hillsboro, T.J. Gregory of Pineland, Michael Bush and wife, Karen, of Hillsboro, Randy Bush and wife, Lexie, of Itasca, Gregg Bush of Hillsboro, Nichole Jenkinson of Gilbert, Arizona, Krista Gregory of Tempe, Arizona, and Jacob Gregory of Tempe, Arizona; and 9 great-grandchildren.
