Terry Cosby

Terry Cosby,
Pastor of White Bluff Chapel in Whitney, TX
Born December 7th 1954 to Lee and Geneva Cosby in Hillsboro, TX, Terry Cosby passed away Tuesday March 5th, 2019 after complications from surgery at the hospital in Dallas. Terry is survived by his wife Pam, sons Matthew and Clayton, daughter-in-law Melissa, grandchildren Kaden and Klaira, parents Lee and Geneva, brother Johnnie, and sister Carolyn.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 16, 2019 at White Bluff Chapel with the Rev. Larry Venable and Rev. Rick Davis officiating.

Terry grew up on a farm in Milford, TX. As a youth, Terry Cosby was an All-Star athlete in football, basketball, and track, where he was a Texas State Champion in Shot Put and Discus. At the age of 18 and a senior in High School, Terry was called into the Ministry. He was ordained at FBC Milford and decided to attend a Christian college, Howard-Payne University, on athletic scholarship where he excelled at football and track. In 1977 he became an All-American in both the Shot Put and Discus events. He would later be inducted into the Howard Payne University Sports Hall of Fame. In continued pursuit of his calling to the ministry, Cosby attended and graduated with a Masters in Theology from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX in 1980.

Terry pastored many youths, missions, and churches across Texas in his 44 years of ministry. His longest tenured stops being at Lakeshore Drive Baptist Church (founding pastor) in Weatherford TX, First Baptist Church of Hereford TX, and his last post at White Bluff Chapel in Whitney, TX.

Terry lived to please Jesus. He was always known as a "Gentle Giant". Many close to him referred to him as "Cos" and no one will forget his vibrant laugh and sense of humor. He had a love for writing, music of all kinds, history, books, and dreamed of travel one day. Terry was a well-known face in the communities in which he served. He cared deeply for his family, the church, friends, and spreading the gospel in word and in deed. His last few days were difficult battling illness but he looked to the cross until the end. He would tell you he wasn't perfect but stumbling toward righteousness by the grace of his Savior. We take comfort in knowing he has heard the words of Matthew 25:23- "Well done, good and faithful servant!"
