Terry Derr

Terry Lynn Derr, 67, of Hillsboro passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011, in Temple. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Donna Ware officiating. Inurnment will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at the DFW National Cemetery.

Terry was born January 7, 1944 in Dallas to Jack Marion and Sarah Florine (Raines) Derr. In 1961, he graduated from Port Lavaca High School and attended Sam Houston State University. From 1966-1970, he served his country in the United States Air Force. On September 16, 1967, he married Laveda Louise Williams in Centerville, Ohio. He worked for Charter Oil Company in Houston before having to retire in 1989 due to health reasons.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a daughter, Sara Derr on December 30, 2004.

Survivors include his wife, Laveda Derr of Hillsboro; four children, Robert Derr of Hillsboro, Brian Derr and wife, Cassandra, of Waxahachie, Tommy Derr and wife, Brandi, of Frankston, and Kristi Derr of Dayton, OH; sister, Susan Russell and husband, Lynn, of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Christopher, Ryan, Lily, Elizabeth, and Archer; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
