Thelma Grace “Bitsy” Trigg Gannon, 98, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Monday, February 20, 2023, at her home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, February 24, 2023, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, Hillsboro. The funeral service and interment will be held at a later date.
Bitsy was born August 14, 1924, in Shreveport, LA, daughter of Thelma (Arthur) Trigg and Jack A. Trigg. She grew up in Shreveport and then Dallas. After attending Woodrow Wilson High School, she continued her studies at Mary Baldwin College and the University of Texas at Austin. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. After graduating with a degree in social work, she worked at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. On May 2, 1953, she married Clair H. Gannon, Jr. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Dallas. They began their married life on their farm in Italy, TX. In 1955, they moved to Hillsboro, where by 1966, Bitsy spent most of her time chasing their seven children! She was active with the Episcopal Church, Sesame Club, Daughters of American Revolution, Christ Child, various bridge clubs, and she was a founding member of the Hillsboro Heritage League. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, shopping for antiques, watching British television, and traveling the world with her husband.
Bitsy was preceded in death by her husband, Clair H. Gannon, Jr.; her parents and sister, Ann Clements, and her infant children, Fred Gannon II and Ellen Gannon. She is survived by her children, Tori Clark (Dan) of McKinney, Clair H. Gannon III (Barbara) of Dallas, Mary Gannon (Jan) of Phoenix, AZ, Jack Gannon (Ellen) of Hillsboro/Dallas, Sisi Brewer (Max) of Waco, Annetta Prudhomme (John) of Katy, and Patrick Gannon (Rhonda) of Bastrop; niece, Cindy Voelter (Chuck) of Austin; family members Lex Ready (Lisa); and grandchildren, Gibbs Clark and wife, Carole, Trigg Clark, Clair Gannon IV and wife, Josie, Jack Gannon Jr, Grace Ann Gannon and fiancé, Michael Neff, Nancy Barczak and husband, Michael, Hallie Brewer and fiancé, Clint Trimble, Victoria Brewer, Walt Prudhomme and wife, Hannah, her namesake Bitsy Prudhomme, and Gannon Prudhomme; and her latest joy—her great-granddaughter, Collins Grace Barczak.
