Theodore Motley


Theodore T Motley, 90, of Hillsboro died Monday, April 13, 2009, at Central Texas Health Care System in Temple. Mr. Motley was the son of James Pendelton and Idora Bonner Motley of Hubbard. For a short period of time in his youth, he moved to Amity, Arkansas with his parents during the depression of 1929, moving back to the Hubbard area about 1935. From Jan. 13, 1942 to Jan. 13, 1946 he served his country in the U. S. Marines in the South Pacific during World War II. On Dec. 29, 1947 he married Lucille Annie Muesse Hennig and she preceded him in death on Aug. 1, 2007. On Sept. 6, 1958 he started working as a pipe fitter for Brown and Root and retired on May 28, 1981 from Comanche Peak at Glen Rose in the pipe fabrication shop. Also during his working career he worked in maintenance from 1962 to 1969 for Certain Teed in Hillsboro. An avid outdoors man, T was a very active member of the Hillsboro Roundup Club, participating in parades and other events held by the club. He enjoyed riding and breaking horses and farming and ranching. He loved kids and his family very much and was very big on family get togethers. His favorite past times were to work and fix on cars and buy, sell, and trade all kinds of items. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro and his confirmation verse was John 3:16. Also preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Ida Mae Hester and Geneva Thorpe. Survivors include his children, Kathleen DeArman and husband, Jerry, of Burleson and Johnny Motley of Hillsboro; brother, J. P. Motley and wife, Antonette, of Waco; sister, Hazel Tolleson and husband, Lester, of Arkansas; granddaughter, April D'Anne Chappell and husband, Rodney, of Burleson; three great-grandchildren, Allison Paige Chappell, Emily Ann Chappell, and Ryan Anderson Chappell all of Burleson; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church Radio Ministry, 915 Corsicana Hwy., Hillsboro, TX 76645.
