Theresa Bryan

Theresa Bryan, 87, of Hillsboro passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Mr. Phil Collard officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday prior to service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Bryan will lie in state from Noon to 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, and from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

Theresa was born April 1, 1927 in Vaughan to Samuel Robert and Beulah Hallie (Bentley) Owens. In May of 1945 she graduated from Hillsboro High School. On March 29, 1949, she married Oscar Hudson Bryan in Fort Worth. For 45 years, she worked as a legal secretary beginning as secretary to Herman Eastland, Jr. in 1945 for ten years. Upon his death, she worked for Donald Eastland Law Firm until retiring in 1990. She was a volunteer at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro and as an assistant to election judges for several years. A lifetime resident of Hillsboro, Theresa was a member of College Hill Church of Christ.

Preceding her in death were her parents; four sisters, Ruth Phillips, Katherine Perry, Gladys Reece, and Wanda Jeffries; and two brothers, Woodrow and H. B. Owens.

Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, Oscar Bryan of Hillsboro; son, David Wendell Bryan of Harker Heights; grandson, 1st Lt. Todd Austin Bryan of Tampa, FL; granddaughter, Brooke Leigh Bryan of Smithville; great-granddaughter, Addeline Cooper Bryan of China Spring; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Bryan of Mesquite and Neta Owens of Burleson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
