Thomas Beavers


Thomas Boyd Beavers was born December 4, 1941 in Hillsboro to Albert Clayton and Velma Lee Dobbs Beavers. He attended Hillsboro Schools and Navarro Junior College. From 1961-1967 he served in the U.S. Marines. He served in Okinawa before his tour of duty in Vietnam in 1965. In 1967 he was honorably discharged from the Marines as a Sergeant. He married his wife of 38 years, Yolie, on April 12, 1966. Tom returned to Hillsboro in 1966 and was the owner/operator of Hillsboro Farm Machinery following the death of his father. In 1977, he became the owner/operator of Western Auto in Hillsboro. In 1986, he became the agent for Farmer?s Insurance, where he remained until his death. He enjoyed his home and his family more than anything. Tom went to meet his Lord on Saturday morning in his home with his loved ones, following a long courageous battle with cancer. Preceding him in death were a son, Bradly Clayton Beavers in 1992; a sister, Brenda Joyce Beavers Parks in 1994; his father, Albert Clayton Beavers in 1972; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Dobbs. Survivors include his wife, Yolanda ?Yolie? Casas Beavers of Hillsboro; three sons, Brian Scott Beavers and wife Gigi of Murphy, Thomas Brant Beavers and wife Brandi of Hillsboro, and Barry Lee Beavers of Allen; a sister, Betty Jan Beavers Grayson and husband Dudley of Hillsboro; his mother, Velma Lee Dobbs Beavers of Hillsboro; two grandsons, Brandon Scott Beavers of Murphy and Brayden Thomas Beavers of Hillsboro; extended family, Ophelia and Charles Brown and family of Canton and Kay and Roland Savant and family of Arlington; and numerous aunts, uncles, and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made in Tom?s name to one of the following, First Presbyterian Church of Hillsboro, Stained Glass Window Project, Presbyterian Children?s Home in Itasca, or The American Cancer Society.
