Thomas Coleman Farley (Tom and “Tom Tom”)
Tom was born to Leroy Bradley Farley and Shirley Mae Quam on January 19, 1961, and left this world on May 29, 2024. He was 63 years old and was taken from us by chronic heart disease.
Tom graduated from Bryan Adams High School in 1979 and subsequently applied his love of nature and the outdoors towards an Associate’s Degree in Landscape Architecture. He remained in this field most of his adult life, either as a business owner or property manager for large commercial properties. In 1987 Tom married Laura Pepper and welcomed a son, Andrew Coleman, in 1991 and a daughter, Rachel Anne, in 1996.
After a divorce from Laura, Tom married Karen Wood in 2006 and continued to live in Plano, Texas where he and Karen enjoyed her grandchildren and pool parties in their backyard. They left the workplace and moved to the country in 2019. A few years later, Tom and Karen divorced but he continued to be a “rancher” of sorts, caring for the Pepper family farm – tending to the cows – fishing in the ponds – driving the tractor and generally just enjoying the outdoors.
Tom had been an avid outdoorsman from the time he was a young boy fishing in the creek. He loved the camaraderie at his deer lease and went fishing every chance he could – whether in a pond on the farm, a lake or the ocean. He was particularly excited about his recent trip to Costa Rica with his long-time best friend, Glen Farris and was already planning a return trip!
Tom saw his children as his greatest accomplishments in life. He was thrilled to attend his son’s recent wedding, welcoming Roxanne to the family. He was so pleased that his daughter has his same love of the outdoors and relished her recent trips to the farm to pick dewberries and plan a garden.
Tom is preceded in death by both parents, his Uncle Pat, Auntie Bi, and cousins Dave, Deb and Pam. Tom is survived by his children, many friends, both ex-wives and his lifelong confidant, his sister, Linda Farley Fisher and her husband Rick.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held later this summer. Details to be posted on Facebook.
