Thomas E. Hartley, aka Donald T. Hardy, 82, of Brandon was called home by his Lord on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Homestead Nursing and Rehab Center in Hillsboro. Memorial graveside services will be held at a later date.
Donald T. Hardy was born north of Detroit, Michigan on June 9, 1932, as Thomas E. Hartley. We are smiling through our tears as we reflect on the amazing life of our beloved “Pops”, who departed this world surrounded by love. He proudly served in the Army, in Korea. After returning to civilian life, he gained fame as a stunt artist and then took up the noble profession of truck driver. Together with his wife, Ruby Jones, he raised a wonderful family of five. “Pops” never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his three wives, Ruby, Shirley, and Linda Jackson; his son, Tommy, and his daughter, Diane Smith. He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Linda Drake and Pam Junkin; his son Charlie Hardy; grandchildren Donna, Sherry, Heather and Rusty, of Alabama, Brandy, Matthew, Mary, Robert, Joshua, Samantha, Sarah, and Sabrina, of Texas, and numerous great-grandchildren; sons-in-law, Gene Drake and Loyde Junkin: and daughter-in-law, Karen.
We would like to thank the very professional and caring staff members of Homestead Nursing Home, Gentiva Hospice, Outreach Provider Services, and Integra Home Health Services, who assisted in caring for “Pops”.
