Thomas Kernen Jr

Thomas A. Kernen, Jr., 73, of Hillsboro died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Thomas was born June 2, 1931 in Akron, Ohio the son of Thomas Alonzo, Sr. and Sara Kernen. Serving in the U. S. Army for 20 years, he fought during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. During that time he served 18 years as a military police officer. On August 16, 1975 he married Gaylene Lee in Athens, Texas. He worked for several law enforcement agencies in the Panhandle area, retiring from the Pampa Police Department in 1995. He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Kelley and Barbara. Survivors include his wife, Gaylene Kernen of Hillsboro; two daughters; one son; a step-daughter, Teresa Bradley of Hillsboro; a step-son, John Lee of Houston; one brother, Keith Kernen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one sister, Roberta Edgerley of Stowe, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.
