Thomas Edwin McCown passed away Friday, July 7, 2023. There are no funeral arrangements at this time.

Thomas was born on February 22, 1934, in Whitney, Texas to his parents Jack and Elizabeth McCown. Tom received a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering at Texas Tech University and a Master's degree in Civil Engineering from Southern Methodist University and his second Master's degree in International Business at Harvard. He had a successful career with McDonnell-Douglas/Boeing in Santa Monica and Huntington Beach, California, where he worked on the Gemini and Apollo manned space programs and the International Space Station as Structural Chief Engineer and holds several patents. Despite all of his hard work to provide for his family, his passion was to install a good Christian character in his children as well as others and this was evident in his strong but kind nature. He took great pride in coaching his sons and grandson's baseball, soccer and basketball programs, as well as being a Pack Leader in Cub Scouts. Tom was a prolific wood worker and furniture maker.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Roy-Nell McCown of Whitney, Texas; his twin brother, James Walter McCown of Spring Branch, Texas; his 4 children, Abby Michelle Gherman of Laguna Woods, California, David Michael McCown of Arlington, Texas, Jack McCown of Huntington Beach, California, and Jon McCown of Whitney, Texas; as well as 3 grandchildren, Renee Gherman, Ryan Gherman, and Josiah McCown.

Tom was a proud and loved husband, father, grandfather, and coach, he will be missed.
