Thomas Olin Strickland, 81, of Itasca, Texas, passed away August 12, 2022, at home. There are no services scheduled at this time.
Thomas was born on July 13, 1941, in Searcy, Arkansas, to Roy Charles and Margaret Frances (Cash) Strickland. He grew up in Arlington, Texas and graduated from Arlington High School in 1959. After high school, Thomas attended East Texas State College, then Texas Wesleyan University, where he received a degree in communications. He was united in marriage to Mary Alyce Johnson on May 29, 1964, in Arlington, Texas. After the couple married, Thomas joined the United States Navy and served as an air traffic controller from June 22, 1966, until he was honorably discharged March 2, 1970. After his military service, he went to work with Fort Worth 116 IBEW, retiring in 2006 as a member of Local 20. An avid reader, Thomas enjoyed country music, old band music and was an excellent cook, with a special talent for barbeque and smoking meat. He was a fifty-five-year member of the 116 FCU and served as President and Board Member for many years. Thomas was of the Baptist Faith.
Preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Alice Strickland; and his brother, Jim Strickland, Thomas is survived by his son, David J. Strickland; his daughter, Larissa Moseley and her husband, John; his grandson, Marshal Couldron; and his brother, Skip Strickland.
