Thurman “Ray” McGinnis, 79, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 9, 2020.   The family will hold a memorial service at 10:30 a.m., January 25, 2020, at White Bluff Chapel in Whitney, Texas.

He was born on April 9, 1940 to Arna and Juanita McGinnis in Van, TX.   Ray served in the U.S. Army, worked as a local truck driver, and was a proud member of the Teamster Union.  He raised his family in Austin, TX and retired in the White Bluff community of Whitney, Texas in 1999.  He enjoyed numerous hobbies,his favorites being fishing, vegetable gardening, wine making, and arm chair coaching the Dallas Cowboys.

He was preceded in death by parents; two brothers, Carlie McGinnis and Garland McGinnis.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Patricia (Pat) McGinnis; four daughters, Lori McGinnis and Buell Nunnery of Benton, AR, Lisa McGinnis and Ty Cochran of Pflugerville, TX, Kelly and Jerry Howard of Grayson, KY, and Jennifer O’Brien of Bastrop, TX; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Guin and Nancy McGinnis; one sister, Vernell and Jr. Parkerson; numerous nieces and nephews; 3 beloved fur babies, Abbie, Bella and Misty; and many beloved friends.

He was our rock; a loving, faithful,  wise and honorable man who always gave the best advice and shared the most amazing stories.   We were blessed to have him as a husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend and will be loved always.
