Tommie Bledsoe Beene, 98, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2005, at Hill Regional Hospital. Tommie was born April 11, 1906 in Peoria, Texas the daughter of Charlie and Addie James Bledsoe. A native of Hill County and lifelong resident, she graduated from Hillsboro High School and completed college in Fort Worth. Mrs. Beene was a 73 year member of First United Methodist Church, a 74 year member of the Order of The Eastern Star Chapter 769, both in Hillsboro, and a charter member of the Hillsboro Business Women?s Club. For 37 years she served as a secretary with the Texas Department of Public Welfare in the Hill County Courthouse, and also worked for 15 years at the Hillsboro Daily Mirror newspaper. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, George Beene; four brothers, Floyd Bledsoe, Monk Bledsoe, R. V. Bledsoe, and Bert Bledsoe; and three sisters, Eddie Clark, Dovie Lesley, and Opal Mills. Survivors include a sister, Katheryn Bledsoe Freese of Hillsboro; five nephews; four nieces; and numerous great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be: James Garland Bledsoe, David Earl Bledsoe, Billy Kenneth Bledsoe, Will Lowrance, Arthur Sikes, and Clark Watson.
