Tommy Hobbs


Born July 2, 1922 in Des Arc, Arkansas, Tommy was the son of Thomas Henry and Sally Richardson Hobbs. On May 19, 1942, he married Ludie Mae Hines. During World War II, he served as a sergeant with the U.S. Army. For 33 years he worked for El Paso Natural Gas in the Permian Division in Goldsmith, Texas. Tommy was a member of the First Baptist Church and American Legion Post #522, both in Whitney. Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, John Hobbs and Billy Robert Hobbs; and three sisters, Patsy Wilkinson, Geneva Kennedy, and Virginia Snowden. He is survived by his wife, Ludie May Hobbs; three children, Tommy E. Hobbs and wife, Maureen, Ronnie Hobbs and wife, Ruby, and Sherry Hobbs; six sisters, Helen Thornburg, Hazel Dunlap, Mary Stauzenberger, Sally Harrington, Betty DeLeon and Katie Utley; also, five grandchildren, Stephanie Chrane and husband, Bob, Ronnie Dee Hobbs, Chad Hobbs, Heather Mathis and husband, Bryan, and Malena Gamble; and seven great grandchildren, Ashley Benton, Jacob Chrane, Taylor Hobbs, Zachary Hobbs, Matthew Hobbs, Illyssa Mathis, and Kolhton Mathis.
