Tommy Myers

Tommy Myers age 69, of Clifton passed away on Friday, December 6, 2019 in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. The Rev. Clint Schofield of First Presbyterian Church of Clifton will be officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Grove "Greenie"  Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the funeral home.

Thomas was born on February 4, 1950 in Brekenridge, Texas to R.C. and Pauline (Offield) Myers.   He grew up in Aquilla and graduated from Aquilla High School in 1969.   He attended Hill College where he took 2 years of mechanics.   For 19 years he worked for his dad with the city of Hillsboro in maintenance before going to work for the Texas State Highway Department as a mechanic, retiring in 2005, after 25 years of service.

On January 11, 1980, he married Melvina Honeycutt in Hillsboro.     He enjoyed working on cars in his spare time.   Thomas was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Clifton.

Preceding him in death were his father, R.C. Myers and a son, Henry Myers.

Survivors include his wife, Melvina Myers of Clifton; mother, Pauline Myers of Aquilla; children, Dan Newell and wife, Emily of Webster, New York and James Newell of Whitney;  7 grandchildren, Lauren Amber Stone, Matthew Newell, Elizabeth Newell, Mercy Newell, Tommy Newell, Serenty Newell, Dusty Newell;  2 great-grandchildren, Jake Stone and Sebastian Stone and one more on the way; a brother, Ronnie Myers and wife Diane of Aquilla; sisters, Kathy Shipman and husband Bob of Ft. Worth, Marion Allen of Arlington, Patty Myers Ward of Whitney and Sandra Sykora and husband, Ronnie of West.
