Tommy “Tom” Paris, 71, of Hillsboro passed away Friday, September 13, 2013, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Darrel Phillips, Mr. Glen MacDonald, Rev. Reed Justus, and Rev. Robyn Young officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2013, at the funeral home.

Tom was born April 16, 1942 in Fort Worth to Ernest McClain Paris and Ola Paris Rachuig. For most of his younger years, he lived in Fort Worth. Before starting his senior year of high school, he moved to Hillsboro with his family and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1960. On November 10, 1962, he married Carolyn West. After working for Goodyear in Hillsboro and Fort Worth for several years, he opened Tom’s Gulf Station on the square. In 1981, he opened Tom’s Tire and was still active in operating it until last year.

He was a member of Line Street United Methodist Church and the Optimist Club, both in Hillsboro. For 30 years, he served as a Hill County Sheriffs Deputy Reserve, attaining the rank of Captain. Tom loved his little red convertible, spoiling his grandchildren, and sitting and talking to his McDonald Coffee Buddies.

Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Donald Glenn Paris; son-in-law, Mike Schance, Sr.; brothers-in-law, Edward West, Henry West, and James Leo West; and sister-in-law, Millie West.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Paris of Hillsboro; children, Ronald Lynn Paris and wife, Clif-Ann, of Waco and Melissa Darlene Schance of California; brothers, Johnny Wayne Paris and wife, Pat, and Ernest Dewayne Paris and wife, Eve, all of Greenville, and Gary Franklin Paris of Rowlett; sister, Sharon Diane Cowart and husband, Mike, of Wichita Falls; grandchildren, Ronald Lynn Paris, II, and wife, Krystal, Sarah Melree Paris, Stephanie Gabrielle Trammell and husband, Cameron, and Michael Schance, Jr.; and brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ben and Sylvia West, Glenda West, and Donna West.

Memorials may be made to the Line Street United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 1665, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
