Tommy Stricklen, 67, of Whitney passed away on January 24, 2009. Tommy was born on March 3, 1941 in Junction, Texas to Simon T. and Aurie Belle Bugg Stricklen. He grew up in Big Lake and Odessa. He married Nelda Thomas and she preceded him in death in 1988. He joined the United States Air Force and served for 33 years before retiring in 1991. While living in Odessa, he owned and operated a lawn mower shop with his brother and later opened Stricks Refrigeration retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and the VFW of Odessa. In 1998 he moved to Whitney. Preceding him in death were his parents and granddaughter, Kaydence Eaton. Survivors: special friend of 19 years, Shelia Mills; children, Thompson W. Stricklen, Jr. of Jacksonville, Connie Stricklen of Odessa, Cathy Moorman of Longview, Richard Stricklen of Bellmead, Carol Rickman of Longview; step children, Nikki Mills, Norma Teakell, Sharon Lowrey, Lisa Small, Evelyn Lowrey, Rivers Sharp, Keith Sharp; brother, David Stricklen of Odessa; sister, Dorothy Nutter of Midland; 27 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
