Tommy Luther Townes 75, of Whitney, passed away on September 14, 2018 after a short battle with lung cancer. The family will hold a private memorial service on Saturday, September 29, 2018.
Tommy was born on May 9, 1943 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Raymond Luther and Geneva Verene(Mays) Townes. He spent most of his childhood years in Clarksville, Texas before moving to Ft. Worth and graduating from Northside Technical High School. He worked for Ben Hogan until they closed and then for Snapper until he retired. Tommy has lived in Whitney for the last 12 years.
Tommy was a close and loved brother and uncle, a good friend to all who knew him. A giant of a man with a big heart, Tommy was well known for being soft spoken and kind. He never spoke harshly of others and always offered a kind word, he was a man who loved life and family.

Survivors include his children, Richard Townes and Jason Townes of Ft.Worth; brother, Kenneth Ray Townes and wife, Marva Lee of Whitney; nephew, Danny Ray Townes and wife, Christy of Benbrook and niece Katheryn Varene Meyer of Benbrook, several great-nieces and nephews.
