Tommy Tune

Tommy Tune, 66, of Hillsboro passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011, in a Dallas hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 30, 2011, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Mr. Barry Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Tommy was born April 19, 1945 in Hillsboro, where he lived all his life. He was the son of Martin Lynn and Mildred Marie (Pope) Tune. Following graduation from Hillsboro High School in 1963, he entered the United States Navy and served his country in Viet Nam. On October 26, 1967 he married Dianna Brown in Hillsboro. For the past 23 years he was employed at Cain Vending in Hillsboro, where he served as a route manager. Tommy was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He also loved professional sports and enthusiastically supported his grandchildren in their sports. He was of the Baptist faith. A past member of Amvets, Tommy and three other veterans organized the Hillsboro post in 1972 and he served as the Sergeant at Arms.

Preceding him in death were his parents; nephew, Matthew Tune; and sister-in-law, Michaelle Tune.

Survivors include his wife, Dianna Tune of Hillsboro; two children, Kristin Matthews and husband, Scott, of Alvarado and Marty Tune and wife, Melissa, of Whitney; two brothers, Marvin Lynn Tune of Red Oak and Warren Tune and wife, Susan, of Arlington; two sisters, Gloria Valentine and husband, Dirk, of New Braunfels and Valerie Madsen and husband, Charlie, of Round Rock; five grandchildren, Kelsey and Spencer Matthews both of Alvarado and Bryce, Gavin, and Kylie Tune of Whitney; aunt, Helen Nelson of Forth Worth; uncle, Les Pope of Lafayette, LA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
