Our precious mother went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 5, 2011. She passed away at Park Plaza Nursing Home which had been her home for the last 3 years. She was 98 years old.
Tracy was born on January 2, 1913 in Whitney to Jack and Jenny Ivy. Her mother passed away when she was 13 days old and she was raised by her grandmother, Elizabeth Watts whom she called mother. She went to school in Whtiney and completed the 8th grade. When she was 19 years old she met and married Charles Leo Weeks in August 1931. Four children were born to this union, Bobby Charles Weeks, Don Jay Weeks, Ada Jean Weeks and Betty Jane Weeks.
Leo and Tracy farmed and lived in the country most of their life. In 1960 they moved to Whitney and Leo passed away in June of 1961. Tracy was left with 2 daughters to raise and she took in ironing in her home to supplement their income. She met and married Howard Gollihar of Blum and they were married in August of 1967. They raised Polled Herefore cattle and were married almost 10 years when Howard got sick and passed away in April 1977.
Tracy doted on her grandchildren and helped out with babysitting her two granddaughters while their mother worked. She was a kind and compassionate person who never met a stranger. You were always welcome in her home and never left until you had something to eat. She was a wonderful cook. Her fried chicken, pork chops and gravy and her wonderful dressing on holidays will always be missed.
Tracy was preceded by her 1st husband Leo Weeks in 1961 and her 2nd Howard Gollihar in April 1977; 2 sisters, Jo Ann Priest and Eunice Lawson; 2 brothers, Billy Ivy and George Ivy and her son-in-law, Frank Williams in may of 1994.
Tracy is survived by 4 children, Bob Weeks and wife Gayle of Carrollton, Don Weeks and wife Annette of Whitney, Ada Washburn of Whitney, Betty Williams of Whitney; sisters, Iva Lee Worley of Fort Worth, Viola Roberts of Grandview, Geneva Oliver of Keene, Joyce Butler of Fort Worth, Mary Priest of Cleburne; her grandchildren, Charles Weeks of Mesquite, Joe and Lanette Dean of Boyd, Vicky Murphree of Lindale, Randy Weeks of Roanoke, Prescha and Brad Weiss of Lumberton, Tracy and Will Cox of Vaughan; great grandchildren, Jennifer and Joseph Osinga of Hico, Josh and Denise Dean of Fort Worth, Jill Dean of Boyd, Jackie Frost of Lindale, Seth Faglie of Abbott, Sadey Cox of Vaughan, great great grandchildren, Makayla, Kaleb, Jaclyn, Katie and Kylie Osinga of Hico.
Tracy loved working in her yard, flowers, cooking, sewing, playing dominoes and 42 but most of all she liked being with family and friends. She was a member of Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years. Her service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, January7 at the church. Interment was at Bethlehem Cemetery.
Mother rest in peace. Your're with the angels now We'll never forget the things you taught us. We will love and miss you forever.
