Troy Eugene Goodman, age 93, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 in Hillsboro. His family will host a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro. Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Troy was born on November 11, 1924 in Kilgore, Arkansas to Oscar Goodman and Clara Ethell Chorice Goodman. His family moved to Hill County when he was an infant. Troy joined the Navy Sea Bees in August 1943. Stationed first on the island of Attu in the Alaskan Aleutian Islands, he went on to serve at the Naval base at Pearl Harbor before being discharged in November 1945.

On January 18, 1946, he married Mable Olivia Potter. For 25 years, he worked for the Texas Highway Department. Following his service with the highway department, his career continued in the management of Hillsboro's Housing and Urban Development Project. Subsequently, he was recruited to manage the construction of Hillsboro's airport and the Aquilla Water Treatment Plant where he served as the General Manager for many years. In October of 2014, the water treatment plant was renamed the Troy Goodman and James Finch Water Treatment Plant. He also provided leadership for 12 years in the Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Department.

Troy was baptized in the First Presbyterian Church at age five. He served the congregation over his lifetime in many capacities. Troy serves as a role model for exemplary community service, sacrifice and generosity.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mable; four children, William, Sue, James and Kay; and five grandchildren, Christopher, Amanda, Andrew, Amy and Jo Anna.
