Usa Lee Tufts, 91, of Hillsboro passed away Monday, August 31, 2015, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2015, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Danny Gilliam of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Wheatland Cemetery in Dallas. Visitation will be held from 6:00–8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2015, at the funeral home.

Usa was born July 7, 1924 in Italy, TX to Hazy C. and Marzee (Jackson) Hastings. She grew up in Duncanville, where she graduated from high school. On July 27, 1940, she was united in marriage to Ware Gilbert Tufts, Jr. The couple moved to Hillsboro in the fall of 1948. They farmed and ranched and also owned and operated the Turkey Shop Restaurant in Abbott from 1965-1985. Usa loved cooking, gardening, and taking care of her flowers. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Usa was a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and a good friend to all.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband on July 14, 1999; brother, H. C. Hastings and his wife, Barbara; and two granddaughters, Tasha Tufts and Debbie Hight.

Survivors include her five sons, Robert “Bob” Lee Tufts, Benny Frank Tufts and wife, Linda Kay, and William “Bill” Gilbert Tufts and wife, Anita, all of Hillsboro, Barry Wayne Tufts and wife, Dolores, of Abbott, and Buddy Clark Tufts and wife, Frances, of Tours; brother Wayne Hastings and wife, Sylvia, of Avalon; eleven grandchildren, Bryan Tufts and wife, Cathy, of Richmond, Aprille Kaska and husband, Ryan, of Abbott, Penny Johnson of Longview, Becky Wood and husband, Cecil, of Henrietta, Katie Kaska and husband, Chad, of Abbott, Kyle Tufts of Childress, Kary Buzbee and husband, Jody, of Aquilla, Matthew Tufts and wife, Annie, of Fairborn, Ohio, Lauren Tufts of College Station, Brandon Tufts of Dallas, and Bradley Tufts and wife, Amber, of West; fourteen great-grandchildren, Kyndall, Michael, Johnathan, Nathan, Quintin, Camille, Easton, Josh, Lisa Kay, Joe, Jake, Raylan, Marlie, and Tyler; four great-great grandchildren, Jordan, Landry, Luke, and Austin; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
