Valorie McCoy, 86, of Dallas passed away Monday, September 21, 2015, at Willow Bend Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mesquite. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2015, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Friday prior to service time at the funeral home.

Valorie was born December 12, 1928 in Irene to Harry Hall and Alta Leota (Dunagan) Craig. She grew up in Hill County and was a 1945 graduate of Bynum High School. She moved to Dallas after graduation and went to work for the Federal Reserve Bank. On November 21, 1951, Valorie was united in marriage to Harold R. “Harry” McCoy in Malone. The couple lived in Ohio and Virginia while Harry was in the Army. In the mid 1950's, they moved back to Dallas and would often come back to Hill County to visit family. Valorie and Harry also had a farm near Whitney that their children enjoyed playing at. In her spare-time, she loved to sew, watch sports, especially the Cowboys, and was a talented artist who worked in watercolor and oils. She was a member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church in Dallas and past member of Eastern Star.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Harold R. “Harry” McCoy on April 4, 2010; and sister, Maxine Kendrick.

Survivors include two daughters, Janet Reed and Julie McCoy, both of Dallas; two brothers, Glenn Kennedy Craig and wife, Patsy, of Farmers Branch and Denzil Dean Craig of Fort Worth; two grandchildren, Ariel Reed of Las Vegas, NV and Ava Reed of Dallas; and other extended family.
