Velma Murdock

Velma L. Murdock, 80, of Whitney passed away Dec. 29, 2008. Velma was born on Jan. 13, 1928 in Dallas, the daughter of the late W. James and Vergie Cavender Wetherell. She served her country in the U. S. Navy from 1951 - 1956. She had worked as a registered nurse for the V.A. hospital in Dallas for 20 years, Park Plaza nursing home in Whitney, and for St. Catherines and Providence Park nursing homes in Waco retiring in 2008. She was of the Catholic faith. She was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Post # 522. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Anita Fitzgibbons. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Heart for the care shown to their mother. Survivors:children, Rita Monk, Butch Murdock, Clifford Murdock, Paul Murdock, grandchildren, Carrie Neckar, Thomas Monk, Alishia Murdock, Jason Murdock, Matthew Round, Jonathan Potter and 7 great-grandchildren.
