Velma Baker Howland Rodarte, 84, of Fort Worth, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12, at 1:00 PM at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Mr. Kelby Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at New Lebanon Cemetery near Aquilla.
Velma was born on July 17, 1928, in Aquilla, Texas, to the late Floyd and Winnie (Lowry) Baker. She married Ralph Howland in 1949 and he preceded her in death in 1996. She later married Cecil Rodarte. She lived in Aquilla for many years and worked for Bush Grocery before moving to Fort Worth in 1987 to be closer to her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, one great-grandson, one nephew and two brothers-in-law.
Survivors include her daughters, Ruth Hanson and husband, Rodney, of Benbrook and Leslie Stanley and husband, Roy, of Fort Worth; son, Robert Howland and wife, Regina, of Waco; eight grandchildren, Rick Hanson, Marcy Mason, Kelly Williams and husband, Kelby, Sarah Vaughn and husband, Michael, Chelsey Strickland, Rusty Cook, Stephanie Veteto and husband, Mickey, and Joy Fox; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Ryan, Kristen, Samantha, Jacob, Taylor, Toby, Tucker, Annie, Kady, Cameron, Cole, Tony and Brittany; three nephews, Charles Googans and wife, Lisa, Chuck Isham, Jeff Isham and wife Robin.
