She was the daughter of David and Elizabeth Washer Upchurch. She married Nolan Lee Thompson on April 13, 1930 in Hillsboro. She was a primarily a homemaker but also worked at the Cotton Mill and Town Square Furniture. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Nolan Lee Thompson, on January 6, 2000, 5 brothers, 3 sisters and 1 granddaughter. Survivors include her children, Elsie Bessire and husband, Billy, of Amarillo, Louise Hulme and husband, Doyle, of Clifton, Kenneth Thompson and wife, Rita, of Amarillo, Wendell Thompson and wife, Brenda, of Red Oak, Barbara Head and husband, Danny, of Pampa. Sister-in-law Marcett Murphy of Dallas. 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren.
