Vera Lenamond

Vera Lenamond, age 93, of Whitney, Texas, passed away on December 26, 2024. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 3, 2025, at Marshall and Marshall . Burial to follow at Cobb Cemetery in Groesbeck, Texas at 2:00 p.m.

Vera was born on August 31, 1931, to Erwin Lee Hanna Sr and Lorena Venable in Dallas County. Resided in Texas her entire life. She attended Dallas schools and graduated. She grew up experiencing WWII and the challenges it brought to their lives.

Around that same time, she would help out her father in the management of a local billiards hall. A new Dallas resident, Billy Gene Lenamond would regularly play pool in the same business. That is where they meet. So Vera and Billy began dating. The courtship was relatively short and they were married on July 5, 1949.

Vera became a mother rather quickly and gave birth to Gary Dale Lenamond on July 10, 1950. Three years later, Larry Gene Lenamond was born on May 31, 1953. Three more years passed, and Audrey Denise Lenamond was born on October 11, 1956.

In the 1950s Vera and Billy bought a house in Garland, TX and resided there until they retired. As they approached retirement Vera, Billy and numerous family members worked together and built a retirement home at Lake Whitney.

Vera was a talented homemaker, oil painter, home education teacher, office manager, and licensed realtor/broker.

Vera leaves behind a loving legacy descendants. 3 children. 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren.
