Vera Wingate

Vera Boyd Wingate, 71, of Hillsboro died Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Vera was born December 1, 1937 in Crosbyton the daughter of John Marion and Josie Mae Applegate Boyd. On August 21, 1959 she married Claude Oland Wingate in Fort Worth. In 2007, she retired from Town Hall Estates as a dietary aid. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro, where she was a faithful member of its Fidelis Sunday School class and enjoyed it very much. An avid southern gospel listener, Vera loved her family very much and enjoyed working with her hands and doing needlework. Preceding her in death were her mother and father; husband, Claude Oland Wingate on September 20, 1986; daughter, Sherry Ramos on April 24, 2006; two brothers, Jackie Boyd and Ray Boyd; and two sisters, Louise Wheatley and Doris Boyd. Survivors include her daughters, Debbie Davis and husband, Donald, of Whitney and Donna Miller and husband, Butch, of Hillsboro; two brothers, Johnnie Boyd and wife, Laverne, of Grandview and Sam Boyd and wife, Sue, of Cleburne; sister, Pat Gant and husband, Bobby, of Cleburne; son-in-law, Tony Ramos of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Kama Soule` and husband, Justin, Karley Miller, and Trey Miller all of Hillsboro; and Connor Davis of Whitney; and a great-granddaughter, Lea Soule` of Hillsboro.
