Verl L. Hackney, 91, of McKinney, Texas died Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at Life Care Center in Plano, Texas. Verl was born June 24, 1914 in Bradford, Arkansas the son of John and Ida Hagar Hackney. During WWII, from 1943 to 1945, he served in the U. S. Army in the Battle of the Bulge with 3 major battle stars from Europe. On November 3, 1950 he married Mozelle Hooker in Dallas and she preceded him in death on January 4, 2000. After 43 years he retired as personnel manger at Colorcraft Poster Company. From 1939 to 1979 he was a resident in Oklahoma City where he managed the little league baseball games from 1950-1956 and was a member of the American Legion there. In 1979 he moved to Hillsboro and in 2005 he moved to McKinney to be closer to family. While in Hillsboro he was a member of the Line Street United Methodist Church. He was also a VFW member. Survivors include his son, Larry Hackney and wife, Donna, of Oklahoma City, OK; granddaughters, Lori, Tifani, and Andi; and great-grandchildren, Chris, Josh, Sean, James, Ryan, Reise, Rylei, and Gia.
