Vern Bessire

Vern Bessire, 75, of Corsicana passed away on May 12, 2009 in Corsicana. She was born on November 4, 1933 in Aquilla, Texas, the daughter of Ferris and May McGuire Gregory. She grew up and graduated from Aquilla high school. She lived in Whitney most of her life and lived in Corsicana with her son and daughter-in-law and at Alterra Sterling House for the last 6 years. She had worked as a nurses aid and was a member of the Abiding Life Assembly of God in Whitney. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Doyle Bessire; son, Terry Shaw; brother, Norris Gregory; sister, Bonnie Powers; son-in-law, Jimmy Davis and granddaughter, Deana Moore. Survivors include her children, Kathy Davis of Corpus Christi, Don Shaw of Atlanta, GA., Alan Shaw and wife, Sylvia of Corsicana; sister, Nettie Wiley of Whitney; grandchildren, J. J. Davis, Jeff Davis, Laureen Shaw, Tyler Shaw, A. J. Shaw, Stephanie Shaw, Joshua Shaw, Misty Shaw, Amy Shaw; seven great grandchildren.
