Vernon Franks

Vernon Aaron Jeff Franks, 73, of Whitney passed away at his residence on October 27, 2008. He was born on Dec. 28, 1934 in Hill County, the son of Will Tom and Blanche Boyd Franks. He served his country in the United States Army. On March 29, 1958, he married Peggy West in Hill County. Vernon worked as a long shoreman for Maritime Associates Local 307, retiring in 1973. He liked working with electronics, playing guitar, singing and was an avid belt buckle collector. He was a member of American Legion Post #522. He was also a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Franks Meador. Survivors include his wife, Peggy; mother, Blanche Arnold; children, Michael Franks and Randy Franks all of Whitney; Teresa Walker of Fort Worth;a very special well loved granddaughter, Alicia Walker; brother, James Franks of Houston; sisters, Carol Eubank and husband, Billy of Whitney, Joyce Davis and husband, Edwin of Marshall; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
