He was the son of Charlie Elmer and PearlHight Jean. Vernon grew up around Osceola, Covington, and Blanton. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII in Northern France and in Germany.He worked for Bell Helicopter for 35 years and was a farmer and also a painter for 32 years. Vernon was a member of the Covington Church of Christ. He was a musician and gardener and loved to take evening drives. He also enjoyed high school sports, and was honored by Covington Athletics for many years of support. He was preceded in death by his wife Alma on June 24, 1995, two brothers;Douglas Jean, Cortez Jean, and one sister; Ruby Perkins. His survivors include 2 Sons: Randy Jean & wife, Rhonda of Springtown, Gary Jean & wife, Rebecca of Covington and one daughter: Derece Jones and husband Byron of Dublin, one brother: Hollis Jean and wife, Kathy of Whitney, four sisters:Dorothy Smith of Ft. Worth, Leta Matthews of Ft. Worth, Robbie Ann Holt of Burleson, Wanda Sue Fechtner of Fresno, CA., one grandson, 7 granddaughters, 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
