Vicente (Chinney) Ramirez, 96, of Hillsboro passed away Monday, December 10, 2012, at Providence Hospital in Waco. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, December 14, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro with Father Ouseph I. Thekkumthala officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 13, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro. Vicente was born April 5, 1916 in Hillsboro to Lorenzo and Juanita (Rizo) Ramirez. He grew up and attended school in Hillsboro. On November 23, 1940, he married Dolores Lara in Hillsboro, where they lived until he and Dolores passed in 2012. During World War II, he served in the U. S. Army in occupied Japan as a transportation specialist. During his life, Vicente worked for the Katy/MKT Railroad, which became the Union Pacific. He retired from there as a section foreman. He and Dolores raised two children, Ricardo and Rosemary. As a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, he belonged to the Knights Of Columbus. Vicente was an avid fisherman, had an uncanny green thumb, and liked to do anything outdoors, as long as it was outdoors. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Dolores; brothers, Luis, Nick, Joseph, Daniel, and Samuel; and sisters, Nita Ledesma and Carmen Dills. Survivors include his son Ricardo Ramirez of Weatherford; daughter, Rosemary Ramirez of Dallas; two brothers, Steve Ramirez and wife, Francis, of Indiana and Joe Ramirez of Hillsboro; four sisters, Naomi Gonzales and husband, Frank of Waxahachie, Amelia Reyes of Denver, CO, and Margie Gonzales and Josephine Torres both of Hillsboro; two sisters-in-law, Betty and Lucy Ramriez; grandchild, Amelinda Ramirez-Justus and husband, Nathan, Sr.; five great-grandchildren, Jessica Ramirez-Demmitt, Christina Birdwell, Savannah Ramirez, Tennessee Justus, and Nathan Justus, Jr.; and two great-great grandchildren, October Sky Smith and Aliyah Birdwell.
