Viola Booth, 93, of Whitney passed away on June 18, 2008 in Whitney. Viola was born on May 24, 1915 in Whitney to William Arthur and Cora Lee Dunn Shelley. She lived in Whitney all of her life and graduated from Whitney High School. She married Marshall Booth on Sept. 9, 1933 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 2007. Viola had worked in a sewing room and was a member of Prairie Valley Baptist Church. She helped clean the church and Prairie Valley Cemetery for a number of years. Also preceding her in death were her parents; stepmother, Annie Rebecca Wallace Shelley; brothers, Milton Simmons, William Bill Shelley and sister, May Russo, grandchildren, Jay Allen Booth, William T. Mayfield, Jr., Misty Dawn Mayfield and great grandson, Landon Mark Thiele. Survivors include her children, Bobby Odell Booth and wife, Ophelia of Hillsboro, Chester Eli Booth and wife, Barbara of Whitney, David Allen Booth and wife, Martha of Flint, Eddie Marshall Booth and wife, Joyce of Whitney, Rita Evelyn Edmonds and husband, Bob of Whitney, Opal Lee Mayfield and husband, Bill of Whitney; brothers, Charlie Shelley and wife, Doris of Hillsboro, Lewis Shelley and wife, Lola of Olney; sister, Sarah Pelham of San Antonio; 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
