Virginia was born Nov. 20, 1926, the daughter of M.L. and Alzena Lawson New. She graduated from Whitney High School in 1944 and later attended Business College of Commerce in Ft. Worth. She married Wm. H. "Bill" Clements on July 16, 1947 in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death on September 24, 2006. Also preceding her in death were her parents and brother M.L. New. She worked for the City of Hillsboro for four and 1/2 years, then for District Clerk A.J. Thomas as Deputy for 9 years. She was then elected District Clerk and served for 14 years and 2 months before retiring on April 30, 1993. She was a Charter Member of the Hillsboro Business and Professional Women, joining in 1968 and serving as an officer for several years. She was a member of the Walnut St. Baptist Church. Virginia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her daughter, Arlinda Wolverton and husband Jack of Garland; sister, Kathleen Triplett of LaMarque; grandchildren, Leighann Carson and husband, John, of Garland and Rob Davison and wife, Cortney, of Rowlett; great-grandchildren, Maggie and Blake Carson of Garland and Jesse and Reese Davison of Rowlett; and sisters-in-law, Delores New of Garland and Desma DeHart of Hillsboro.
