Raymond and Virginia Miller went to be with the Lord on Oct. 4, 2007 in Temple, TX. They were united in love on Nov. 18, 1955 and experienced a lifetime of love and happiness together. Throughout their lives, they were devoted spouses, parents, and grandparents. They grew up and met in Whitney, TX. Virginia was born in Bosque County, TX on Nov. 18, 1934 on a farm owned by Governor Miriam "Ma" Ferguson. Raymond was born in Hill County, TX on Dec. 16, 1930. Both were graduates of Whitney High School. Virginia graduated as salutatorian of her graduating class and later attended vocational school. After high school, Raymond served in the United States Army, 25th Infantry Division, as a 1st Sergeant during the Korean War and was decorated for bravery with several meritorious service awards. They moved from Whitney to Pasadena, TX after marriage, to start a family and both had careers in the refining and petrochemical business sectors. During their professional lives, they both advanced through hard work to achieve success in their careers. Virginia worked as a senior secretary for several petrochemical companies and retired from American Petrofina in the early 1990?s. Raymond worked for various general contractors and retired as Senior Vice President of Austin Industrial in the early 1990?s. Both were shining examples of success in their personal and professional lives. Throughout their lives, they greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing together. In their retirement, they lived several years on a farm in Liberty County, TX, raising livestock, border collies, and spending quality time with their grandchildren. They moved from Liberty County to Trinity, TX in 2003 and from Trinity to Temple, TX in 2006. They both loved living on Lake Belton and their devotion to nature, conservation, and outdoor life continued until their deaths. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Jessie and Irvin Boswell, her sister, Johnnie Satterwhite Finley and her brother Weldon Boswell. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Mattie Ruth and Cecil Jackson ??Jack?? Miller. Both are survived by their son Gary R. Miller of Houston, TX and their grandchildren Samantha Rae Miller, John Wallas Miller, and Jackson Ray Miller of Katy, TX. Virginia is also survived by her sister Maxine Williams of Pasadena, TX, sister Betty Jean of Arlington, TX, and brother Eldon Boswell of Mc Kinney, TX. Visitation will be at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the Marshall and Marshall Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Internment will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory in Hillsboro, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association or the Autism Society of America would be greatly appreciated. Lastly, in the memory of Ray and Virginia, 1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
