Virginia Ellen (Woodruff) Sullins, 90, of Abbott passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2021, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro with Rev. Cliff Troyer of Abbott Baptist Church officiating. Mrs. Sullins will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until Noon on Friday at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro. Facial masks and social distancing are required.
Virginia was born on June 3, 1930 in Abbott to Phillip Ruben and Hallie Viola (Holder) Woodruff. She was a graduate of Abbott High School and went on to further her education at TWU in Denton, earning her degree in Library Science. She was employed by the Hill County Co-op Library and was a public school librarian until her retirement.
Virginia married Cecil R. Sullins on June 14, 1952, and he preceded her in death on June 5, 1992. In her spare time, she liked working in the garden, sewing, and cooking. Her greatest joy in life was being with all of her family.
Virginia served on the Hill College Board Foundation as the secretary and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was also a member of the Abbott Baptist Church.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Thomas Woodruff; sister-in-law, Rita Jean Woodruff; sister, Juanita R. Stafford-Johnson; brothers-in-law, Eldon Stafford and Fred Johnson; and sister-in-law, Helon Sullins.
Survivors include her sons, Rick Sullins and wife, Louise, and Lance Sullins and wife, Lanette, all of Abbott; brother, Lionel Eugene Woodruff and wife, Sharla, of Abbott; brother-in-law, Delmer Sullins of Abbott; grandchildren, Jason Sullins and wife, Stephanie, Arron Sullins and wife, Mandy, Amanda Sullins Kettler and husband, Blake, Morgan Sullins, and Mason Sullins, all of Abbott; great-grandchildren, Connor Sullins, Abigail Sullins, Hannon Kettler, and Avery Sullins, all of Abbott; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
