Walter Allen

Walter Allen, 63, of Hillsboro passed away Friday, September 4, 2015 at a Fort Worth hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Aaron Kalbas and Rev. Michael Nemec officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Walter will lie in state Monday until 5:00 PM at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Walter was born on November 13, 1951, in Hillsboro to J. B. and Leona (Krueger) Allen. A 1970 graduate of Hillsboro High School, he also earned his associates degree from Hill Junior College and attended Baylor University and Texas State Technical Institute. Both during his school years and after, he worked at Allen Auto Parts in Hillsboro for a number of years before moving to the Dallas area. While in Dallas, he worked for the Trammel Crow Company.

In 1994, he returned to Hillsboro where he became primary caregiver for both his parents, and also helped care for three of his aunts. Walter always enjoyed a good book and doing the crossword puzzles in the Sunday newspaper. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.

He was preceded in death by his father. His survivors include his son and daughter, Chris Allen and Jennifer Allen Hobbs and husband, Rocky, all of Whitney; his mother, Leona Allen of Hillsboro; sister, Barbara Robinson and husband, Ken, of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Lynnsey Smitherman, Haley Kepple, Derek Allen, Justice McDaniel, and Dacey Allen; niece and nephew, Pam and Aaron Kalbas and their children, Ellie, Ethan, and Eli; aunt, Mozelle Kelley of Burleson; and numerous cousins.
