Walter Neyhard

Walter Neyhard


Walter was the son of John Albert and Helena Marie Shupp Neyhard. He grew up on a dairy farm in Pennsylvania and joined the Air Force as soon as he was old enough near the end of World War II. Walter served in the Air Force for over 20 years. During his military career, he was stationed at air bases in England, Iceland, Greenland, France, New Mexico, Kansas, Arkansas and Texas. On January 15, 1953 he married Mary Pat Hoffman in Fort Worth. He received Associate degrees from Hill College in both auto mechanics and auto body repair. Walter worked for Gene's Auto Service and Bailey Implement for a number of years until his retirement. He was a wealth of knowledge in history, antique farm machines, and airplanes. A master craftsman, he enjoyed building intricate scale model tractors. He also enjoyed traveling and was very patriotic. Walter had a love of music, especially polka, classical and marches. He was of the Lutheran faith and was a lifetime member of VFW. Preceding him in death were his parents, son Walter Lynn Neyhard on December 3, 1987, brothers Kenneth Neyhard and Carroll Neyhard, and one sister Dorothy Mihalyco. Survivors include his wife, Mary Pat Neyhard of Hillsboro; 3 Children, David Neyhard and wife Cathy of McGregor, Patrice Stidham and husband Paul of Whitney, and Laurie Ward and husband Randy of Grandview; 1 Brother, Donald Neyhard of Hershey, PA; 2 Sisters, Eleanor Walter of Turbotville, PA, and Joy Keefer of South Williamsport, PA; 7 Grandchildren, David Neyhard and wife Krystel, Amy Neyhard, Randall ward, Jr. and wife Shannon, Ryan Ward, Candace Stidham, Zane Stidham, and Mandy Hocutt and husband Daryl; 4 Great-granchildren, Abby Neyhard, Emily Neyhard, Kasey Ward, and Conner Gazelka; and many nieces and nephews.
