Wanda Best

Wanda Best, 76, of Hillsboro died Monday, January 4, 2010, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Wanda was born December 20, 1933 in Blum the daughter of Gilbert Pinion and Mildred Blalock Caudle. She attended school in Brandon and lived in west Texas before settling in Crane, where she graduated from high school. She also completed Odessa Junior College. On June 10, 1955 she married Johnnie Best in Crane. Following marriage, the couple lived in Santiago, Chile; California; Maryland; and then in Ecuador for 12 years. They moved to Hobbs, NM before settling in Hillsboro in 2000. She was a member of College Hill Church of Christ in Hillsboro and the Gourmet Club while in Ecuador. She enjoyed cooking and was active in working with church benevolent programs throughout her life. Preceding her in death were her parents; and two brothers, Jimmy and Charles Caudle. Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Best of Hillsboro; children, Randy Best and wife, Lynn, of College Park, Maryland, Garry Best and wife, Diane, of Mt. Airy, Maryland, and Connie Best of Abbott; sister, Jean Kelly and husband, Glen, of Irving; and six grandchildren, Candy and Randall Best both of College Park, Maryland and Erin, Lauren, Joseph, and Thomas Best all of Mt. Airy, Maryland.
