Wanda Cato

On July 28, 2017 the heavens welcomed a true angel. Wanda Maxine Bedford Cato was an exceptional heroine. Funeral services will at 2:00 p.m., Sunday,July 30, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Whitney with Dr. Carl Jennings officiating. Burial will follow at Whitney Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.

Born on March 28, 1928 to Lovelle and Earl Bedford in Weatherford, Texas. At the passing of her mother, before she reached the age of 12, she became the maternal figure for her sister Lavena and brothers Howard, Bill and Coy.

Wife of Jim Cato for 69 years, mother to Cherri Sanes and her husband Scott and Carmen Peters and her husband David, grand mother to Carissa Poore and her husband Grandon, Johnathon Peters and his wife Diana, Jache Sanes and Molleigh Sanes and great grand mother to Callie, Caitlin and Colt Poore and Kaci and Keeli Peters.

Wanda lit up the world for almost 9 decades. A consummate homemaker with an immaculate kitchen, perfectly tended garden and a stain remover extraordinaire. She loved each member of her family unconditionally and brought that sweet accepting energy to everyone she met in her beloved community of Whitney where she was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church for over 50 years. Wanda was a 4H leader in Hill County for many years and was awarded the Whitney Citizen of the Year for her tireless devotion to our local youth. An avid sports fan when it came to her kids, grand kids and great grand kids, she was a fixture in the bleachers of nearly every game. Never was there a sweeter woman. Anyone who was fortunate enough to cross her path knew they had met an angel on earth. Now she is simply an angel.
