Wanda Gant

Wanda Fay Carmichael Gant, 86, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at her home in Whitney. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Rev. Eddie Booth, Rev. Rusty Penney, Rev. Bill Waldrop and Rev. Johnny Pelham, all officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the funeral home.

Wanda was born on Janaury 23, 1927, near Peacock, to the late William and Ona (Degraffenreid) Carmichael. On July 11, 1942, she married Bart Grant in Whitney. Wanda accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age and she was a faithful member of Prairie Valley Baptist Church. She had been employed at Community Action, the Whitney Clothing Factory,and Sprayberry’s Purse Factory. She love to garden and piece and quilt quilts.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bart, on June 1, 2010' a granddaughter, Cindy Gant; siblings, Harris Carmichael, Monette Harvey, Maurine Owens, Ruth Chism, John Carmichael, Arch Carmichael and Annie Ince.

Survivors include children, Carolyn Waldrop and husband, Bill of Laredo, Wayne Gant and wife, Billie, of Hillsboro, Mike Gant of Austin, and Martha Redding and husband, Jerry, of Coolidge; grandchildren, Billy Waldrop and wife, Petra, of Waco, Tammy Waldrop and husband, Kelle of Laredo, Nesha Mayes and husband, Richard of Clifton, Michael Gant and wife, Amanda, of Dothan, AL., Matthew Gant and Mallory Gant, both of Austin; great-grandchildren, Kelle Hein and husband (Colby) in Afghanistan, Davis Waldrop of Dallas, Kalen Hein and wife, Brandi, of Shreveport, LA., Kyla Hein, Kiery Saldivar and husband, Ale, Kesha Hein all of Laredo; soon-to-be great-great-grandson, Paxton Hein of Shreveport, LA.; sister-in-law Marie Carmichael of Hillsboro; many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved, and other relatives, friends and neighbors.
