Wanda “Nana” McCleary, 87, of Hillsboro passed away Saturday evening, September 16, 2017, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2017, at Line Street United Methodist Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Darrel Phillips, Rev. Amy Anderson, and Rev. Melissa Graham officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 22, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Blooming Grove. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 21, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Born January 6, 1930 in Dawson, she was the daughter of Charles William and Omie Mae (Fitzgerald) Turner. She graduated from Blooming Grove High School where she played basketball. On June 22, 1947, Wanda was united in marriage to Jack McCleary. The couple lived in Houston and Corsicana before returning to Hillsboro in 1953. Wanda was employed at T. B. Bond Pharmacy for 15 years and later at Family Diagnostic Medical Center in data processing until her retirement in the early 2000's.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved taking care of family, including her sisters, nieces, and nephews. For years, she and her sisters would take a “Sisters’ Trip” together. She was an active member of Line Street United Methodist Church in Hillsboro where she participated in the children’s programs, sacraments, and Walk to Emmaus.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Jack McCleary on November 1, 1965; and three sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Harmer, Johnnie Bell, and Wynell Niswanger.

Survivors include her four children, Billy Dale McCleary and wife, Diana, of Clifton, Margaret Kay McCleary of Gatesville, Roy McCleary and wife, Darla, of Whitney, and Gail Fussell of Hillsboro; sister, Linda Newell and husband, Bill, of Everman; five grandchildren, William McCleary and wife, Gayle, of San Antonio, Marcus Kruger and wife, Evangelee, of Seattle, WA, John Nathan Fussell and wife, Rebel, of Hillsboro, Kaylee McCleary of Lubbock, and Cody Helms and wife, Victoria, of Granbury; seven great-grandchildren, Zachary, Brandon, Isabelle, Xéa, Simone, Jessie, and Hunter; twelve grand-dogs who loved her very much and she loved them the same; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Line Street United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 1665, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
