Wanda Murphy

Wanda Janette Murphy of Aquilla passed away Monday, December 10, 2012 at the age of 77 at Providence Hospital in Waco, surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012 at the Marshall & Marshall Chapel in Whitney with Mike Stevens officiating. Visitation will be from Noon to 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Janette was born October 27, 1935 in Whitney to Little Joe Biggs and Ruby (Morris) Biggs-Fuqua. She grew up in Whitney and Priddy and attended schools there as well. On October 3, 1959, she married Ralph Murphy in Whitney.

Janette’s last employment before retiring in 2000 was at West Rest Haven as Supervisor of Housekeeping/Laundry. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Aquilla. Janette enjoyed playing bingo, going gambling in Louisiana, cooking, spending time with family and friends, watching basketball games and loving big Christmas celebrations with lots of presents under the tree and a little karaoke on the side. She was known to many as “MeeMaw”.

Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Bobby Biggs. Survivors include her husband of 53 years; daughters and their spouses, Cindy Serrault and Mike of Trent, Tensy and John Ward of Aquilla; one brother and wife, Gary and Debbie Biggs of Joshua; grandchildren, Jack and Ashlee Gilmore of Leander, Crystal and Josh McCook of Chalk Bluff, Jennifer Serrault of Trent, and Jeffrey Ward of Santa Fe; great-grandchildren, Brenden, Ty, Peyton and Paige Gilmore, Hayden, Emma and Lainey McCook, Hunter Ward; and many nieces and nephews.

Her friends and extended family are too numerous to list, but you all know who you are and how she treasured your friendship.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Providence Hospital for the wonderful care they provided MeeMaw during her last days.
